Crowns, bridges, dentures

A crown or cap is used to restore a tooth which is misshapen, discoloured or has been weakened by damage, a large filling or has been root filled. The crown fits over the remaining part of the tooth making it stronger and giving the tooth a natural appearance. Crowns can be made from different materials. The best quality crown is made from Porcelain which has the translucency and appearance of a natural tooth. Alternatively you can choose to have a solid precious metal crown such as gold.

A veneer is similar to a crown except that it only covers the front surface of the tooth. Again there is a choice of materials and quality.

A bridge is used to replace missing teeth. The teeth either side of the gap are prepared by the Dentist and act as supports for the bridge.

Dentures can be full or partial. A full denture is used when you have no remaining natural teeth on either the top or the bottom. A partial denture replaces a number of teeth. An alternative to a partial denture may be a bridge (s) or dental implants.
